Series 3 Packs On Sale Now - SOLD OUT

Here is the third pack of physical cards from this blog.  As usual, I am selling these through this site for $10.99 per pack plus $4.50 shipping. Please use the link:

SOLD OUT

Due to several requests, I added a drop down menu for multiple orders (up to three).

I was hoping to have these done by the end of July, but I'm about a week late. This is a pretty random group of cards spanning from 1957 to 1983.  If you don't want all 13 cards, you can buy them individually on eBay. My seller's name there is ctnwblog_8.

So, what's in each pack?

12 Cards That Never Were plus a special insert.

This time the insert card is a 1969 Jim Bouton Deckle.

All cards are professionally printed.

Front and Back.

The backs are formatted in a style consistent with their year.

The front of the cards are high gloss UV coated.

The backs are not.

The backs a full color matte finish.

These are similar in look and feel to the Topps Archives cards.

The have all been previously featured on this blog.

I'm running out of things to say.

They're high quality 18 Pt. card stock.

By far the best deal is to buy a pack of all 13 cards from the link on this page.

Due to eBay's cost structure and wanting to mail a quality product complete with penny sleeve and a top loader, individual cards a more expensive. $3.99 including shipping on eBay.

Thanks for all the support over the years.  My next post will be another give-away.

Series 3 Teaser

My series three packs are nearly done.  I appreciate everyone that has bought packs and singles from my first two series.  That has allowed me to make even more physical cards from this blog.  I'm putting the finishing touches on the cards now and I'm hoping they will be ready by the end of July.

I did have to create one more card specifically for this set.  I had been including a 1969 Topps Deckle style card in each pack.  So scanning who was missing from the original set, I noticed that none of the 1969 expansion teams had cards.  There were players from each expansion team included but all were in old uniforms with logos airbrushed out.  Additionally, there was no team designation anywhere on the card.

One the most famous expansion players, not for his on-field play, but instead for his best-selling book "Ball Four" was Jim Bouton.  So by including this 1969 Topps Deckle Edge card of Bouton on this teaser post, I can technically say this is a card from my blog.  Here is also a shot of what the wrapper will look like.  In case you can't tell that is my cartoonized version Casey Stengel on the wrapper. "The Old Perfessor" always classies up the joint.

1965 Alt-Topps Jim Bouton

1939-2019

There is not much to say about Jim Bouton that he hasn't already written.  If you are reading this blog, you are obviously an avid baseball fan.  If you haven't read "Ball Four" you are doing yourself a disservice.  This week baseball lost a great voice.

1969 Topps Decal Jim Bouton

Seattle Pilots CTNW Fan Favorites #4

I'm putting together 5 "Cards That Never Were" fan favorites from each team. These are not necessarily the 5 best players from the franchise. So as David Letterman used to say before Stupid Pet Tricks, "This is only an exhibition. This is not a competition. Please, no wagering."

My last post featured a rising star, this one is in the other direction. After 7 years on the Yankees, Jim Bouton played for Seattle in 1969 before being traded to Houston in August of 1969. He was cut by the Astros in 1970 and became a sportscaster for WABC-TV in New York. Bouton last appeared on a Topps card in 1968 as a Yankee. After his 1969 book "Ball Four" he was unoficially blackballed by the Yankees for several years.

I started this as Top-5 series of the short-lived Seattle Pilots. It is turning into a tribute to the different Topps products of 1969.  The Pilots only played one season and I didn't want to use the same format over and over. So here is what Bouton would have looked like had he been featured on a 1969 Topps Decal.
